AVCon is an annual fan-run anime and video game convention in Adelaide, South Australia. First held in 2002, AVCon is now in its 7th year and is destroying the sanity of its 4th Convenor.
We bring attendees screenings of the hottest anime, tournaments and free-play on the latest consoles, and a busy vendor hall. Our events are renowned Australia-wide, with sister conventions regularly inviting us to bring our unique flavour and expertise interstate. With our cosplay competition, sumo suit wrestling, game show, quiz night and more, there is always something to see or do.
What’s new?
This year we are bringing Ultimate Gamer to the main stage on Sunday! Inspired by the spectacle of the Korean Starcraft scene, we are going to turn this popular competition into something you won’t want to miss. Players who complete the three qualifying challenges at the special stations on Saturday will be invited onto the main stage for up to three hours of hilarious gaming madness! But only one will emerge victorious, so flex those fingers.
Next generation consoles are really finding their feet. With the upcoming Australian release of several big-name games and greater competition, there will be more excitement than ever before in the gaming rooms.
We intend to bring you some special guests. Being a fan-run convention in Adelaide, don’t expect A-list celebrities; but we will give you a laugh, that much we promise.
Two words: ROCK BAND. It might not be out locally by AVCon, but we may or may not know a guy… Prepare for the possibility of the best pretend battle of the bands an Australian nerd convention has ever seen!
Last but not least, we intend to do something very special for our staff, volunteers and VIPs: Hold a fantastic after party, just like we do every year! I can honestly say that it is the best part of AVCon. Secure your place today, by volunteering! Remember; service guarantees citizenship!
